Failing Myself

Lemon Water
Sometimes all I want is lemon water. I feel rejuvenated. It wakes me up, calms sore throats, and makes me feel healthier. I like to slice two slices of lemon, place them into my water bottle, and then put in water. I like to do it at the beginning of the day so then I can continually refill the bottle. It doesn't matter to much how big the lemon slices are, because it will change according to your tastes. If you prefer to have a more intense lemon flavor then slice a thicker piece of lemon. Just don't have your slices be half of the lemon. That's laziness and way too intense of a flavor, even if it's a small lemon.

Is Your Word Different from My Word?- A Definition Essay
Is Your Word Different from My Word?
When I tell you, you have “my word,” I mean it as a promise, assuring someone that something will definitely happen; however, others around me say it with loose meaning and little commitment. They treat a ‘promise’ as a placeholder word in order to gain the trust of someone, allowing vague context. You can never be sure what a promise truly is. People often do not follow through on them because they’re forgetful; this is not acceptable. It’s downright foolish and causes everyone agitation. Of the people I know, few keep their word, but those who do are my closest confidants.
We confide our secrets in our closest friends, testing our friendship. We ask them to promise that they won’t tell anyone. One friend once told a crush I was going to ask him to a dance. I was mortified. Not only about his reaction, but also that a friend would divulge my secret. I’m careful in how I reveal any secret now. My friend didn’t keep their word. How do we specify the strengths of your word?
If it involves legal papers, you are creating a vow. Vows are well-founded, but marriage vows are already broken by 40-50% of Americans (American Psychological Association). Broken vows occur continually in the legal system. Going to weddings year after year allows for the recurrence of divorce papers. Families fight over the justification of a will; yet, vows like rental/lease agreements aren’t followed either. When vows aren’t followed, they can have detrimental results such as extreme money loss (causing you to change social classes).
When you give your word that you will clean the dishes but then don’t follow through, parents get frustrated. As well, if you show up five minutes later than you originally indicated, expect after a while for them to start to lose trust in you. They will think their trust was misguided and misplaced. Following through affects not only what your parents think of you, but everyone else too. It affects your whole reputation. Oppositely, if you are known to keep your vows, you are the reliable friend.
Another similar term is oath. An oath, which is held to be sacred and religious, is the highest form of your word. Often religious views that parallel to marriage are considered oaths. Oaths are used within the government, including the presidency. Obama, as many other presidents, "I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of the President of the United States...". Oaths like this are defiant and bold, leaving no room for interpretation, which in turn hold the president to a high standard. Unlike what some may think, the president’s oath does not include “So help me God”; all U.S. government positions allow the phrase to be optional. I believe the only oaths I will give are those relating to my religious views.
Your word is a promise, vow, and oath with different degrees to which you are held accountable. They are different, but one shouldn’t disappoint by not following through on them.
